OPEN MIC @ THE EPICUREAN

WHAT: OPEN MIC NIGHT
WHERE: The Epicurean Restaurant & Bar
902 Village of Eland
Phoenixville, PA 19460
WHEN: Wednesday Nights @ 9:00pm

My name is Chris Lebresco and I am the new host of Open Mic @ The Epicurean as of 3/31/2010. As host, I hope to keep things rolling as they have been for the past several years here at The Epicurean.

The room and my equipment are best suited for Solo and Duo Acts (Acoustic, Electric, Keyboards, etc.) Again continuing with the tradition of this Open Mic, artists will be allowed to play as long as time permits depending upon the number of musicians. I can't imagine too many cases in which you would not have a opportunity to play at least 4 tunes (unless you play songs with ten minute solos:-)

For the record, this open mic is definitely supportive of and encourages folks to come and share their original music, despite the fact that I myself have not written any...yet!

From my experience attending this open mic as a musician, everyone is really cool and the talent level ranges from first time performers to seasoned veterans. My goal as host is to be welcoming, fair and respectful to all musicians.

If you are thinking about coming out and playing for the first time...you should. It is exactly what I did a little over 3 years ago.

Hope to see you at The Ep!

Chris

B, do you know what "a while" means???

"B, ...."a while" means sooooo long!"

I swear I just heard that come out of Jagger's mouth! I can only imagine it comes from me responding to Jagger's request to do anything like....going outside or anything other than going to sleep! I wonder how long he thinks "a minute" is???

Here are two songs I am working on!

This guy has a great voice...I am trying to find a key the I can sing it in. This is too high...at least the yoooo hoooo parts are.

Craig, you said you really like this song! I finally figured out the strumming.

Nothing like The Student Discount!

Yes, I have been out of school since 1996...but I still save a dollar every time I go to the movies!!!

THE SPOILED UNDER-30 CROWD!

If you are 30 or older you will think this is hilarious!

When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears With their tedious diatribes about how hard things were when they were growing up; What with walking twenty-five miles to school every morning...uphill BOTH ways

Yadda, yadda, yadda

And I remember promising myself that when I grew up, There was no way in hell I was going to lay a bunch of crap like that on my kids About how hard I had it and how easy they've got it!
But now that I'm over the ripe old age of Thirty, I can't help but look around and notice the youth of today.

You've got it so easy!
I mean, compared to my childhood, you live in a damn Utopia!
And I hate to say it but you kids today...
You don't know how good you've got it!

I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have the Internet.
If we wanted to know something,
We had to go to the damn library and look it up ourselves, In the card catalogue!
There was no e-mail, we had to actually write somebody a letter, With a pen!
Then you had to walk all the way across the street Or down to the corner, put it in the mailbox, And it would take like a week to get there!

There were no MP3's or Napsters!
If you wanted to steal music,
You had to hitchhike to the damn record store and shoplift it yourself!
Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio, Then the DJ'd usually talk over the beginning and F#&% it all up!
We didn't have fancy crap like Call Waiting!
If you were on the phone and somebody else called...
They got a busy signal, that's it!

And we didn't have fancy Caller ID Boxes either!
When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was!
It could be your school, your mom, your boss, your bookie, Your drug d ealer, a collections agent, You just didn't know!
You had to pick it up and take your chances, mister!

We didn't have any fancy Sony Playstation video games with high-resolution 3-D graphics!
We had the Atari 2600! With games like 'Space Invaders' and 'Asteroids'.
Your guy was a little square!
You actually had to use your imagination!
And there were no multiple levels or screens, It was just one screen forever!
And you could never win. The game just kept getting harder and harder and faster and faster until you died! Just like LIFE!

When you went to the movie theatre there no such thing as stadium seating!
All the seats were the same height! If a tall guy or some old broad with a hat sat in front of you and you couldn't see, You were just screwed!

Sure, we had cable television, but back then that was only like 15 channels
And there was no on screen menu and no remote control!
You had to use a little book called a TV Guide to find out what was on!
You were screwed when it Came to channel surfing!
You had to get off your ass and walk over to the TV to change the channel

And there was no Cartoon Network either!
You could only get cartoons on Saturday morning.
Do you hear what I'm saying!?!
We had to wait ALL WEEK for cartoons,
You spoiled little rat-b@st@rds!

And we didn't have microwaves.
If we wanted to heat something up,
We had to use the stove or go build a frigging fire...
Imagine that! If we wanted Popcorn, we had to use that stupid Jiffy Pop thing And shake it over the stove forever like an idiot.

That's exactly what I'm talking about!
You kids today have got it too easy.
You're spoiled. You guys wouldn't have lasted FIVE minutes back in 1980!

Regards,
The over 30 Crowd

I'm sorry, Mrs. Smith

Jagger's teacher, Mrs. Smith, recently instituted a behavior tracker at school. It consists of green light, yellow light, and red light and is posted on the wall in the classroom. I am sure you can figure out what means what. Well...Jagger had a bad day at school yesterday. When I went in to get him, he was on RED light, while all the other children were on green. How embarrassing! Apparently he was talking back to Mrs. Smith, not listening or paying attention and sticking his tongue out and spitting - certainly not a good Lebresco representation.

Here's what he had to say:

I am pretty sure Wednesday is going to be a green light day....for Jagger's sake, it better be.
